When pursued blindly, personal development becomes an eternal pilgrimage to nowhere. A person feels incomplete and tries a new philosophy. After some effort, they find that they are still in the same place they began; insufficiency. Rather than look within, they seek out another source of salvation, and the cycle starts anew. The mistake such a person makes is failing to involve the Self. Instead, they remain caught in the dualistic realm of the ego, which spins infinitely in circles — without going deeper. This state of affairs is how we get caught in an endless loop of narcissistic relationships.
